Wall Street’s major averages finished higher on Thursday as investors weighed a wave of economic data and Nvidia’s latest earnings, all as the S&P 500 surpassed 6,500 and marked yet another record close. In more rate cut news, Fed Governor Christopher Waller said Thursday he favors beginning U.S. interest rate cuts next month and anticipates additional cuts over the next three to six months, aiming to “ease monetary policy and move it to a more neutral stance.”

Some important economic reports that will be announced next week include Global Manufacturing PMI and Construction Spending on Tuesday and MBA Mortgage Applications, Factory Orders, and JOLTS Job Openings on Wednesday. Meanwhile Thursday will include the release of Challenger Job Cuts, Exports, and Imports, with reports on Nonfarm Payrolls, and Unemployment Rate due to be announced on Friday.
Zscaler (ZS), Signet Jewelers (SIG), Salesforce (CRM), Figma (FIG), Hewlett Packard (HPE), Dollar Tree (DLTR), Macy’s (M), Broadcom (AVGO), lululemon Athletica (LULU), and DocuSign (DOCU) will report earnings next week.
